You arrive!
I have to say you really gave us a run for the money upon your arrival! You were two weeks late and probably would have hung out longer if we let you. We went into the Birth Center on Oct 16th and they broke my water (after a few failed caster oil attempts, ugh) 24hrs later, you came to us. My labor was long (19 hrs) but our birth team was phenomenal and we took it one step at a time. We had our music mix playing the whole time and candles burning to set the calm vibe for you. Those present were your Dad, Doula Tonya Gervacio, Midwife Tonya Iverson and her assistant Tara. When it was time for you to make your entrance we moved to the birthing tub, something I had really been looking forward to my whole pregnancy! I pushed very hard with your Daddy behind me encouraging me all the way. It was a monumental moment! When you came out I lifted you onto my chest and hugged you close. Without going into all the detail, your cord was depressed on your shoulder and you needed assistance to begin breathing which began a terrifying string of events. A two week hospital stay and many tests proved that you had weathered the storm beautifully and you were able to come home with a clean bill of health! Your Grandy and Auntie Alexa stayed with us the whole time taking care of our every need. You came home on Oct 30th. What a surreal moment that was to walk into our house with you in tow. The silence was appreciated beyond belief. A new chapter had begun, we were stronger than ever as a family, scared to death, and delighted at what was to come :)

To begin at the beginning
One fine January morning your mommy got up and peed on a stick then waited for your daddy to get up to give him the good news :) "That was easy" he said.
We were both very surprised at how quickly I got pregnant and excited (though scared to death at the same time) for what was to come.
The secret of you was sooooo hard to keep! We told only a few close friends and family members until we were able to get in for our first ultrasound. When we saw you for the first time and knew you were a healthy little bean we were able to let the cat out of the bag. It was very fun to tell everyone and hear how happy our friends and family were for us.

We joked that you look like a Mexican wrestler trying to beat his way out of the womb in this ultrasound pic (taken 3/15/11) and thus the nickname Strongbad came to be.
I'll write more about your days in utero later but wanted to get this going for you. We can't wait to meet you in a few months!
-Mom (ok that's really weird)
